Mulching at the Landfill
Picture this: over 150,000 washing machines stacked together, filling a Costco or Home Depot. That's roughly the amount of brush and debris collected after the massive storm in May.
So, what happens with all that material? It's currently going through the recycling "cycle", being transformed into mulch and compost, which Garland residents can get for free at the Transfer Station located at 1426 Commerce St. Hours are Mon. - Fri., 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and Sat. 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Friends of Rescue Animals is offering a $50 PetSmart gift card to the first 30 to adopt a dog over 30 lbs. They're at 1922 Hwy. 66 and open daily except Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Big thanks to the shelter and all the wonderful volunteers (including my wife)! People don't understand how vital these city services are until you need them. We helped our neighbors get low-cost spaying for their cats through the shelter. $50 is much more affordable than $500!

I am stray dog and cat rescue volunteer in southern Bexar County which is 2-3 miles from the San Antonio,Tx boundary line I feed strays after school every day, summer time etc. I have humanly trapped, rescued, fostered hundreds and hundreds of dogs and a few cats. It takes time, money , patience, energy and lots of Love ❤️, we rescue volunteers sacrifice so much to save these babies I wish that the general public understood the daily suffering that these babies endure 🥲 There is a serious stray dog and cat overpopulation and not enough spay and neuter mobile clinics ,, I really wish that spay and neuter was mandatory. It’s like a vicious cycle Poor babies 🥲 Thank You for all you do.♥️♥️♥️
